A surrogate-centered story was delivered four days before the “due date”. Some cheesy word games write themselves. This is certainly the case in the case of the Hindi film. Mimi.

Mimi, starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi in the lead roles, and directed by Laxman Utekar, released on Netflix yesterday. As per the schedule, it was due to air on July 30.

The film arrived earlier to apparently mark the birthdays of producer Dinesh Vijan and lead actress Kriti Sanon, who have their birthdays on July 26 and 27, respectively.

Additionally, there are reports that the movie was streamed because it was illegally leaked on apps like Telegram. The producers released the film in a hurry to anticipate any greater damage.

Kriti Sanon gained weight to look pregnant

Mimi is said to be the adaptation of the movie Marathi Mala Aai Vhhaychy! (I want to be a mother!). While the issue of surrogacy is serious and sensitive, the film is humorous.

Mimi is based on the character of Kriti Sanon who is a dancer and agrees to be a surrogate for an American couple in exchange for Rs 20 lakh. But halfway through the pregnancy, the couple pull out, leaving Kriti pregnant with the child. What follows is embarrassment and hilarity.

Kriti reportedly said in an interview with Indian express newspaper: “I divided the film into two parts – A happy program and a sad program. The first program was easier as the only thing I had to do was pick up the accent and mannerism but in the second program I had to put on 15 pounds to look pregnant from the front. Not exercising at all, stuffing myself even when I wasn’t hungry, and eating all kinds of fatty foods made me nauseous. It was a bit of a trip.
